What doesn't kill you will make you stonger

I'm very stressed about making a daycare decision for Garret for the fall. All of the centers are too expensive. I met with an in-home provider today.

Here is what I am thinking about her....
+$95 a week for before and after school care ($50 cheaper than the centers)
+former school teacher
+mother of a 2 year old
+christian
+will teach Garret yoga and spanish and gardening
+very organized and has lesson plans
+close to my home
+certified and licensed
+personable
+has a BA in sociology just like me
+house is clean and child friendly

-she is a stranger
-someone else taking care of my child
-I want to be taking Garret to school and picking him up

Those 3 negatives are weighing heavy on me. :(

I have to give her a final answer by friday, because she has a wait list and is holding this spot for me until I make up my mind.
  • I know the three things in your "cons" list are big, but she sounds really wonderful, and he will learn things that he might not necessarily learn elsewhere. I say go for it! You are providing him with great opportunities and that makes you a good mommy!
  • Honestly, in your negative list the things you have there will carry to any other provider you choose. She sounds wonderful.
